Penn Staters Reforming the Board of Trustees

PSU-ReBOT Alumni Board of Trustees Straw Poll

Today's announcement that an unprecedented eighty six (86) candidates are running for three (3) Penn State Board of Trustee alumni seats is directly attributable to problems with the current Board. (The most on one ballot before has been 15 candidates). The Board of Trustees must be reformed and Penn Staters are determined! Voting to replace three candidates, out of nine total alumni Trustees, will be a solid start.

This election will be a horse race this year! Our straw poll will let Penn Staters see which candidates alumni voters are planning to elect. While PSU-ReBOT has not yet committed to endorsing candidates, we are determined to improve the quality of governance at Penn State and encourage Penn Staters to vote for candidates seeking reformation of the current Board of Trustees. (And what ever you do - please do not vote for #22 Anne Riley)

Details About the PSU Alumni Ballot

The real ballot for the trustee election will be available on-line to Penn State Alumni starting April 10th. All on-line voting must be completed by the close of the election, which is 9:00 AM EDT, Thursday, May 3, 2012.

About the ReBOT Straw Poll

This fun poll is for informational purposes only and makes no claim to predict the three winners. However, it is a tool that Penn Staters can use to show support for their favorite alumni Board of Trustee candidates, by voting for the three that you think would be best for Penn State. Eighty six is a large number of candidates and my guess is that many will be including their roster number in their campaigning (which is why this poll is listed in the same exact order as the ballot will appear, on April 10th).

You can only vote once in this poll, as there are some technical do-dads employed to prevent "stuffing the ballot box". After you've selected your three - yes, you can only pick three, just like the real election - just hit the "Vote Now" box in the lower right. Once your votes have been tallied, you'll be shown the cumulative results from all of the votes tallied so far.

Each time you return to this page, you will be shown the up-to-date, real-time results of the straw poll. So come back during the real voting, to see how your candidates are doing!

The poll will automatically close on May 2nd, one day before the real ballot closes. We have not yet decided if we will reset the poll during the actual ballot process (which may provide an opportunity to gauge how candidates are pulling ahead, or falling behind, during the actual election). If you have any suggestions on the merits of this, please let us know! PSU-ReBOT is focused on improving Penn State, specifically by reforming the Board of Trustees and we can be reached by email, on our Facebook Page, on Twitter or in our (private) Facebook Group!

Your vote is important! Pick the three candidates you think will do the best job of reforming the Board!

  • BOT Apology?

When should the Board apologize to the Paterno family? Chip Minemyer says the Board is right to wait until after the Freeh investigation. Anthony Lubrano says the Trustees are wrong to hold off. Both arguments are presented, with a ReBOT perspective.
